Steven Moreira

Steven Moreira is a French right-back born in Noisy-le-Grand on 13 August 1994. He developed with AS Champs-sur-Marne and US Torcy before joining Rennes’ academy in 2009. Moreira represented France at youth level and was part of the team that finished runner-up at the 2013 UEFA European Under-19 Championship. In 2016, he moved to Lorient, later joining Toulouse in 2018 during a period that included relegation battles. He signed for Columbus Crew in August 2021 and initially operated at right-back. Under Wilfried Nancy, Steven Moreira became a right-sided defender in a fluid back three, contributing to the Crew’s build-up with accurate passing and forward movement. He helped Columbus win the 2023 MLS Cup and was named MLS Defender of the Year in 2024. Moreira made his senior debut for Cape Verde in October 2023 and was involved as the team reached the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations quarter-finals.
