Sean David Longstaff

Sean David Longstaff is an English central midfielder, born in Newcastle upon Tyne on 30 October 1997. He joined Newcastle United's academy at nine after starting with North Shields Juniors. In January 2017, he moved to Kilmarnock on loan, then spent 2017–18 with Blackpool, recording nine goals and six assists in 45 appearances. Longstaff made his Newcastle first-team debut in August 2018 and featured prominently during the 2018–19 campaign, including the 2–1 win over Manchester City. A knee ligament injury in March 2019 interrupted his progress, but he later rebuilt his position under Eddie Howe. He helped Newcastle finish fourth in the Premier League in 2022–23, scored twice against Southampton in the League Cup semi-final, and scored against Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League. Longstaff joined Leeds United in July 2025, bringing a right-footed, hard-running midfield game built on positional cover, pressing and late runs into the box.
