Samuel Junqua
Samuel Junqua is an American defender who can operate at left-back or center-back. Born in Saratoga, California, he developed with the San Jose Earthquakes Academy and was named to the USSDA West Conference Best XI for 2012–13. He played four collegiate seasons at the University of California, Berkeley, making 68 appearances and 45 starts before earning All-Pac-12 honorable mention in 2018. Houston Dynamo selected Junqua eighth overall in the 2019 MLS SuperDraft, and he spent part of his rookie season on loan with Rio Grande Valley FC. He made his MLS debut for Houston in 2020 and increasingly featured in both wide and central defensive roles. Junqua joined FC Dallas in 2023, recording 25 appearances that season and 31 in 2024. He moved to Real Salt Lake in late 2024, continuing his career as a versatile MLS defensive option.
