Sean Everet Johnson

Sean Everet Johnson is a goalkeeper from Lilburn, Georgia, who developed at Brookwood High School before playing for the University of Central Florida. In 2008, he was named UCF’s team MVP and later left college to enter the 2010 MLS SuperDraft as a Generation adidas player. Chicago Fire selected Johnson 51st overall, and he made his professional debut against the LA Galaxy on August 1, 2010. During six seasons in Chicago, he became the club’s 2013 Defender of the Year and collected both MVP and Defensive Player of the Year honors in 2014. A 2017 move to New York City FC began a new phase, as Johnson contributed with his distribution, captained the club in 2021, and helped win that year’s MLS Cup. In the final shootout, he saved two penalties and was named MLS Cup MVP. Johnson later joined Toronto FC and is now part of DC United, while also representing the United States at the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
