Sveinn Sigurður Jóhannesson

Sveinn Sigurður Jóhannesson is an Icelandic goalkeeper born on 22 January 1995. He developed in Iceland and progressed into the Iceland Under-21 setup, marking his involvement in the national pathway. In 2018, Jóhannesson joined Valur Reykjavík, where he served as a secondary goalkeeper and occasional starter over several seasons. During his Valur years, he was included in matchday squads for UEFA Champions League and Conference League qualifying fixtures, including ties involving Dinamo Zagreb and Bodø/Glimt. Seeking regular first-team opportunities, Jóhannesson moved to IF Vestri in July 2024, returned to Valur in early 2025, and then rejoined Stjarnan in February 2026. His career has therefore connected two prominent Icelandic clubs with a period at Vestri, while his experience has been built through top-flight squad involvement and competition for the starting position.
