Samuel Emmanuel Essende Mbongu attacks space for FC Augsburg, using his height and pace as a traditional target man. Essende developed in PSG's youth system before a loan to KAS Eupen and a prolific breakout at Vizela in 2023–24. He then moved to Augsburg in 2024. In June 2024, Essende earned his first senior DR Congo caps. By January 2026, he had made 13 Bundesliga appearances for Augsburg, scoring key goals including on his league debut. As a modern number nine, Essende pins centre-backs and finishes moves. He presses high and uses aerial presence to create space for teammates.
