Simone Canestrelli

Simone Canestrelli is an Italian defender, born on 11 September 2000 in Montepulciano. He began his youth development at Urbetevere before joining Empoli’s academy in 2010, where he spent nearly a decade. In 2019, Canestrelli moved to AlbinoLeffe to begin his senior career and gained experience in Serie C over the following two seasons. He returned to Empoli in 2021 and was then loaned to Crotone in Serie B. Canestrelli joined Pisa on loan in July 2022, later making the move permanent, and also spent a period on loan at Como. Now part of Pisa’s squad, the 1.92-metre centre-back has reached Serie A and made his top-flight debut against Atalanta, building his game around physical defending and aerial work.
