Steven Berghuis

Steven Berghuis is a Dutch attacking midfielder born in Apeldoorn on 19 December 1991. He developed through youth football with Vitesse/AGOVV, WSV Apeldoorn and Go Ahead Eagles before joining Twente in 2009, where he made his senior debut. After a loan at VVV-Venlo, Berghuis moved to AZ Alkmaar in 2012 and established himself as a left-footed attacker. His performances earned a 2015 transfer to Watford, although limited opportunities preceded a loan return to the Netherlands with Feyenoord in 2016. At Feyenoord, he became a creative focal point, later captaining the side and helping it win the 2016–17 Eredivisie title. In 2021, Berghuis joined Ajax, where he increasingly operated centrally as a number 10 after beginning his career mainly from the wing. He has represented the Netherlands since 2016, including at Euro 2020 and the 2022 World Cup, while continuing to combine chance creation, inward movement and left-footed delivery for Ajax.
