Stefan Bell

Stefan Bell is a German defender, born in Andernach on 24 August 1991, who has made FSV Mainz 05 the defining club of his career. He developed with JSG Wehr/Rieden/Volkesfeld before joining TuS Mayen and then entering the Mainz academy in 2007. As a Mainz under-19 player, Bell helped win the German U19 league title in 2009. To gain senior experience, he spent loan spells with 1860 Munich and Eintracht Frankfurt between 2010 and 2012, then returned to Mainz and established himself in the first team. Bell later represented Mainz in the 2016–17 UEFA Europa League, including matches against Saint-Étienne and Anderlecht. Standing 1.92 metres, he has been used at centre-back in a back three or a defensive pair, contributing aerial strength, organization and measured distribution. Stefan Bell’s long association with Mainz has also made him a senior presence around the club’s younger defenders.
