Rúben dos Santos Gato Alves Dias

Rúben Dias is a Portuguese centre-back, born in Amadora on 14 May 1997. He began playing at Estrela da Amadora and, after an early spell as a striker, moved into defence. At 11, Dias joined the Benfica academy, later developing through Benfica B before establishing himself with the senior side. He helped Benfica win the 2018–19 Primeira Liga title, gaining experience as a right-footed central defender. In September 2020, Rúben Dias transferred to Manchester City and quickly became a regular in their defence. During his first English season, he won the FWA Footballer of the Year and Premier League Player of the Season awards, while helping City reach the Champions League final. Dias was part of the City team that won the Premier League, FA Cup and Champions League treble in 2022–23, and he represents Portugal internationally.
