Rubén Blanco Veiga

Rubén Blanco is a Spanish goalkeeper who has represented Celta Vigo and Marseille and is listed with Yokohama F. Marinos. Born in Mos on 25 July 1995, Blanco came through Santa Mariña before developing in Celta’s youth system. He represented Spain from under-16 through under-21 level, establishing an international youth pathway before senior football. On 26 May 2013, aged 17, he replaced Javi Varas at half-time against Real Valladolid and helped Celta win 2–0. He started the following match against Espanyol, a 1–0 victory that secured Celta’s top-flight survival. Blanco later became Celta’s first-choice goalkeeper and helped the club reach the 2016–17 Europa League semi-finals. In November 2019, he became the youngest goalkeeper in Celta history to make 100 appearances. After losing his starting place in 2021–22, he moved to Marseille in July 2022, initially on loan and later permanently, adding experience in French football and European competition.
