Robert Lynch Sánchez

Robert Lynch Sánchez is a Spanish goalkeeper born in Cartagena on 18 November 1997. He developed in his hometown before joining Levante’s academy in 2010. In 2013, Sánchez moved to Brighton, where he signed his first professional contract in June 2015 and progressed through the academy. He made his senior debut on loan at Forest Green Rovers in 2018, making 17 appearances, before playing 26 matches for Rochdale in 2019–20. Returning to Brighton, he made his Premier League debut against Tottenham Hotspur in November 2020 and became the club’s first-choice goalkeeper, keeping a club-record 11 league clean sheets in 2020–21. Sánchez’s 1.97-metre frame, shot-stopping and willingness to distribute from deep became defining features, while a long pass helped create a goal against Manchester United in May 2022. In August 2023, he joined Chelsea, and he received his first senior Spain call-up in March 2021 before later making international appearances.
