Romain Thomas

Romain Thomas is a French centre-back, born in Landerneau on June 12, 1988, and known for his left foot and 1.93-metre frame. He developed through Breton football before beginning his senior career and then moving to USJA Carquefou in 2010. At Carquefou, Thomas established himself as a regular defender over three seasons, earning a return to the professional level with Angers in 2013. He spent nearly a decade with Angers, helping the club win promotion to Ligue 1 and become an established top-flight side. During that period, Thomas developed from a stopper into a defender trusted to start attacks with direct, vertical passing. His height made him a useful presence in aerial duels, defensive clearances and attacking set pieces. In June 2022, Thomas joined Caen, where he quickly became captain and continued to anchor the defence.
