Ryan Stewart Gauld

Ryan Stewart Gauld is a Scottish midfielder from Aberdeen who developed at Dundee United and broke into the first team as a teenager. In 2014, he moved to Sporting CP, where his progression continued through loan spells with Vitória de Setúbal, Aves, Farense and Hibernian. His time in Portugal broadened his game, adding greater defensive responsibility to his creative passing and attacking movement. At Farense, Gauld became a prominent playmaker, helping to control matches and create chances from midfield. He joined Vancouver Whitecaps in July 2021 and established himself as a central figure in the club’s attack. Gauld was appointed Vancouver’s captain in February 2024 and has helped the Whitecaps win Canadian Championship honours. After years outside the senior setup, he made his Scotland debut against Poland in the Nations League in September 2024.
