Mathis Rayan Cherki

Mathis Rayan Cherki is an attacking midfielder born in Lyon on 17 August 2003. He began playing at AS Saint-Priest before joining Olympique Lyonnais’ academy in 2010. Cherki progressed quickly, becoming the youngest scorer in UEFA Youth League history at 15, according to the recorded career account. He made his professional debut for Lyon in October 2019 and soon became the club’s youngest goalscorer. He also featured in Lyon’s 2020 Champions League run, appearing in its semi-final. In 2024–25, Cherki returned to Lyon’s first team and was credited with 11 Ligue 1 assists. He moved to Manchester City in June 2025, where he operates as a creative midfielder who can also drift wide. Internationally, he won silver with France at the 2024 Olympics before making his senior debut against Spain in a Nations League semi-final, scoring and assisting.
