Roman Buess

Roman Buess is a Swiss forward born in Basel on 21 September 1992. He developed at SV Muttenz before joining FC Basel 1893’s academy at 11, later winning the Swiss U-18 Championship in 2010. He represented Switzerland at under-17 level and was part of the team that won the 2009 FIFA U-17 World Cup. After reaching Basel’s senior setup, Buess gained experience on loan at FC Aarau and FC Locarno. He joined FC Wohlen in 2014, where he became the club’s top scorer and led the league in assists, earning a move to FC Thun. Buess then played for FC St. Gallen before joining FC Winterthur in 2019. At 1.83 metres, he provides a physical target in attack. He helped Winterthur secure promotion in 2021–22, scoring 16 Challenge League goals, and is listed with the club as a centre-forward.
