Rodrigo Bentancur Colmán
Rodrigo Bentancur Colmán is a Uruguayan central midfielder born on June 25, 1997, in Nueva Helvecia, Uruguay. He developed in Boca Juniors’ academy after moving to Argentina and made his senior debut for the club in April 2015. Bentancur became an important Boca player, helping the side win two Primera División titles and a Copa Argentina before turning 20. In 2017, he transferred to Juventus as part of the deal involving Carlos Tevez, and he won three consecutive Serie A titles in Turin. At Juventus, Bentancur operated as a deep-lying playmaker or mezzala, using ball circulation and defensive positioning. He joined Tottenham in January 2022, adding ball-winning, pressing and composure to the midfield. For Uruguay, he helped the under-20 side win the 2017 South American Championship and later represented the senior team at the 2018 and 2022 World Cups.
