Ruben Aguilar

Ruben Aguilar is a French right-back born in Grenoble on 26 April 1993. He began at Saint-Siméon-de-Bressieux before joining Grenoble Foot 38’s academy, where he moved from midfield into defence. After Grenoble’s bankruptcy, Aguilar entered Saint-Étienne’s youth system, but returned to Grenoble in 2013 without a professional contract. In 2014, he joined Auxerre on a free transfer and developed through three seasons in Ligue 2. Montpellier brought him to Ligue 1 in 2017, and his defensive consistency and willingness to support attacks earned a move to Monaco in 2019. Aguilar later joined Lens in 2023, where his right-back role has also developed into a wing-back position within a demanding system. He made his France debut in a friendly against Finland in November 2020, completing a late rise from lower-tier football to international and top-flight defender.
