Roberto Carlos Lopes
Roberto Carlos Lopes, commonly known as Pico, is a right-footed centre-back born in Dublin on 17 June 1992. He developed in Dublin with Lourdes Celtic, Home Farm and Belvedere before beginning his senior career at Bohemians in 2010. Lopes remained with Bohemians until 2016, then moved across Dublin to Shamrock Rovers in November that year. At Rovers, he established himself in central defence and helped the club win four consecutive League of Ireland titles from 2020 to 2023, while also winning the 2019 FAI Cup. His international path began after Cape Verde coach Rui Águas contacted him on LinkedIn, and Lopes made his Cape Verde debut in 2019. He represented the Blue Sharks during their run to the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations quarter-finals. Lopes also earned one Republic of Ireland Under-19 cap in 2011.
