Pere Pons Riera

Pere Pons Riera is a Spanish central midfielder born in Sant Martí Vell on 20 February 1993. He joined Girona’s youth setup in 2002 and began senior football with the club’s reserves in 2012, before making his first-team debut in a Copa del Rey match against Sporting de Gijón that September. After a loan spell at UE Olot, Pons established himself in Girona’s midfield under Pablo Machín and helped the club earn its first promotion to La Liga in 2016–17. He made his top-flight debut in Girona’s 2–2 draw with Atlético Madrid in 2017 and stayed in La Liga after joining Alavés following Girona’s 2019 relegation. Pons later moved to AEK Larnaca in August 2022, where his positioning, passing and defensive coverage shaped his midfield role. Pere Pons is now listed with Sabadell, adding a new club to a career built on reliability and positional adaptability.
