Josep María Chavarría Pérez

Josep María Chavarría Pérez, commonly known as Pep Chavarría, is a Spanish defender born in Figueres on 10 April 1998. He developed in Catalonia before joining Olot in 2018, where he progressed through the Spanish lower divisions. In August 2020, Chavarría moved to Zaragoza and made the step into professional football in the Segunda División. His performances there established him as a regular left-back and earned him a transfer to Rayo Vallecano in August 2022. At Rayo, Pep Chavarría has continued his career in La Liga, operating primarily on the left side of the defence. He has also been used as an inverted wing-back or left-sided midfielder, giving his team an additional option in possession. His game combines positioning, ball recovery and overlapping support, while his measured approach helps him defend without relying on rash challenges.
