Paulo Guilherme Gonçalves Bernardo

Paulo Bernardo, full name Paulo Guilherme Gonçalves Bernardo, is a Portuguese central midfielder from Almada, born in 2002. He developed at Benfica’s Seixal academy, joining the club as a child and winning Portuguese Under-15 and Under-17 titles with its youth sides. Bernardo made his senior debut for Benfica B in 2020 and reached Benfica’s first team, making his Champions League debut against Bayern Munich in November 2021. After a loan spell at Paços de Ferreira in early 2023, he joined Celtic on loan for 2023–24 before completing a permanent move in August 2024. At Celtic, Bernardo scored in a 2–1 derby win over Rangers and helped create the decisive rebound in the 2024 Scottish Cup final. He has represented Portugal from Under-15 to Under-21 level and is now listed with Gornik Zabrze.
