Philipp Treu

Philipp Treu is a German defender born in Heidelberg on 3 December 2000. He began at TSV Wieblingen before developing with SV Sandhausen, 1. FC Kaiserslautern and RB Leipzig. In 2017, Treu joined SC Freiburg’s under-17 setup and continued his progression with SC Freiburg II. After four years in Freiburg’s reserve side, he moved to FC St. Pauli in May 2023 to pursue regular senior football. Treu helped St. Pauli secure promotion to the Bundesliga in 2023–24 and established himself as a dependable top-flight defender the following season. SC Freiburg brought him back in July 2025, completing a return to the club where his senior development had taken shape. Primarily a right-back, Treu can also operate at left-back or right midfield, offering stamina, defensive work and flexibility across the flank.
