Patrick Pentz

Patrick Pentz is an Austrian goalkeeper born in Salzburg on 2 January 1997. He began at SV Bürmoos before joining the Red Bull Salzburg academy in 2006, then moved to Austria Vienna in 2013 to pursue a clearer route into senior football. Pentz made his Austrian Bundesliga debut for Austria Vienna in May 2016, keeping a clean sheet against Sturm Graz, and became the club’s regular number one from the 2017–18 season, apart from a brief interruption in 2019. He was named the Austrian Bundesliga’s Best Goalkeeper for 2020–21 and 2021–22. In 2022, Pentz moved to France with Reims, before joining Bayer Leverkusen in January 2023 as a backup goalkeeper. He switched to Brondby in August 2023, initially on loan, and the move became permanent in 2024. Pentz has also established himself with Austria, starting all four of the team’s matches at UEFA Euro 2024, while his agile reflexes and proactive distribution support his modern goalkeeping style.
