Paul Nebel

Paul Nebel is a German midfielder born in Bad Nauheim who developed in the Mainz 05 academy after beginning with local clubs and Kickers Offenbach. He started as a right-back before moving into a more creative role at Mainz. Nebel made his Bundesliga debut for Mainz in September 2020, then joined Karlsruher SC on loan in 2022. During his two-year spell in the 2. Bundesliga, he gained experience and contributed four goals and four assists in 16 appearances in 2023/24. Returning to Mainz in 2024, Nebel has operated as an attacking midfielder in Bo Henriksen’s system, while also offering versatility as a winger or box-to-box midfielder. His game combines close control, movement between the lines, passing and pressing, with a low centre of gravity helping him escape tight spaces. Nebel has represented Germany at youth level, including the 2019 UEFA European Under-17 Championship and the 2025 Under-21 European Championship.
