Phillipp Mwene

Phillipp Mwene is an Austrian defender, born in Vienna on 29 January 1994. He developed at FK Austria Wien before joining VfB Stuttgart’s youth system in 2010 and later progressing to VfB Stuttgart II. In 2016, Mwene moved to 1. FC Kaiserslautern, establishing himself in the 2. Bundesliga and contributing four goals and seven assists during the 2017–18 campaign. He joined Mainz 05 in 2018 and played in the Bundesliga before moving to PSV Eindhoven in 2021. With PSV, Mwene won two KNVB Cups and three Johan Cruyff Shields during a two-year spell that included European competition. Able to operate at left-back, right-back or wing-back, he combines wide defensive work with forward runs and deliveries. Mwene made his Austria senior debut in 2021 after representing the country at youth level and was included in the Euro 2024 squad; he is listed with Mainz 05.
