Petros Mantalos

Petros Mantalos is a Greek attacking midfielder born in Komotini on 31 August 1991. He developed in Xanthi’s academy and signed his first professional contract there in 2009, spending five years with the club. In 2014, Mantalos joined AEK Athens as the club rebuilt in the second tier. He helped AEK win promotion and the Football League title in 2015, then scored the opening goal in the 2016 Greek Cup final, a 2–1 victory over Olympiacos, and was named the match’s MVP. Two ACL injuries, in 2015 and 2017, interrupted his progress, but he returned in April 2018. Mantalos was on the pitch as AEK secured the 2018 Super League title, their first in 24 years. He has also represented Greece and continues with AEK Athens, contributing passing and attacking awareness from midfield.
