Pape Alassane Gueye

Pape Alassane Gueye is a Senegalese defensive midfielder born in Montreuil, France, on 24 January 1999. He developed at Le Havre and made his professional debut in Ligue 2 against Chamois Niortais on 5 May 2017. In 2020, Gueye moved to Marseille after a disputed proposed transfer to Watford, beginning his Ligue 1 career. He later joined Sevilla on loan in 2023, gaining experience in La Liga before returning to Spain permanently. Villarreal signed him in July 2024, adding a tall, left-footed presence capable of screening the defence and supporting build-up play. Internationally, Gueye represents Senegal after progressing through France’s youth setup, and he was part of the squad that won the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations. He also featured for Senegal at the 2022 World Cup, continuing Pape Gueye’s rise from Le Havre prospect to established international midfielder.
