Pieter Gerkens

Pieter Gerkens is a Belgian midfielder born in Bilzen on 17 February 1995. He developed in Genk’s academy, spending 12 years there before making his senior debut as a late substitute against Dynamo Kyiv in the 2013 UEFA Europa League. In 2016, Gerkens joined Sint-Truiden, where his attacking movement and arrivals in the box helped produce 14 goals in 39 appearances during the 2016–17 season. His performances earned him a move to Anderlecht in 2017, where he adapted to a more balanced midfield role and contributed to a Belgian Super Cup triumph. Gerkens transferred to Antwerp in 2020 and became part of the team that won the Belgian Cup and Jupiler Pro League in 2022–23. He signed for Gent in June 2023 before moving to Cercle Brugge on loan for the 2025–26 season. Across his career, Pieter Gerkens has operated as a central or attacking midfielder, with positional versatility also including the left wing.
