Philip Azango Elayo
Philip Azango Elayo is a Nigerian midfielder born in Jos, Plateau State, on 21 May 1997. He began his senior career in Nigeria with Plateau United and also spent time at Nasarawa United before moving to Europe. Azango joined AS Trenčín in 2017 and quickly made an impact, helping the Slovak club defeat Feyenoord 4–0 in a UEFA Europa League qualifying tie. In August 2018, he transferred to KAA Gent, where he made one official league appearance before returning to Slovakia. He later enjoyed a second spell with Trenčín from 2020 to 2023, continuing his development in the Slovak top flight. Azango moved to Spartak Trnava in July 2023 and remains with the club. At Trnava, he has been used as an attacking wide player, and his long-range strike against Slovan Bratislava in March 2025 received Goal of the Month and Goal of the Year recognition.
