Omar Mascarell González

Omar Mascarell is a Spanish defensive midfielder born in Santa Cruz de Tenerife on 2 February 1993. He developed at Real Madrid, helped Real Madrid Castilla earn promotion to the Segunda División in 2011–12, and made one La Liga appearance for the first team in 2013. After leaving Madrid’s senior setup, Mascarell continued his career with Sporting Gijón before moving to Eintracht Frankfurt in 2016. At Frankfurt, he became an important midfield presence and played in the 2018 DFB-Pokal final, a 3–1 victory over Bayern Munich. He later joined Schalke 04, where he was appointed captain, and subsequently played for Mallorca. Mascarell has also represented Equatorial Guinea internationally, adding international experience to a career built around shielding the defence, winning the ball and starting attacks with simple distribution. He is currently listed with Al Khaleej Saihat.
