Oleksandr Zinchenko

Oleksandr Zinchenko is a Ukrainian left-back whose football education began in Radomyshl before taking him to Monolith Illichivsk and the Shakhtar Donetsk academy. At Shakhtar, he captained the under-19 side and scored in a UEFA Youth League match against Manchester United. After the disruption caused by the 2014 invasion of the Donbas region, Zinchenko continued his development in Russia and made his professional breakthrough with FC Ufa in 2015. Manchester City signed him in 2016, and, following a difficult loan spell at PSV Eindhoven, he returned to England and adapted from midfield to left-back. Zinchenko became an important part of Pep Guardiola’s squad, helping City win four Premier League titles between 2017 and 2022. In 2022, he joined Arsenal, where his movement into midfield supported build-up play, while he also represented Ukraine internationally.
