Odysseas Vlachodimos

Odysseas Vlachodimos is a Greek goalkeeper born in Stuttgart, Germany, who developed locally before joining VfB Stuttgart’s academy at seven. He represented Germany from under-15 to under-21 level, starting at the 2011 European Under-17 Championship, where Germany finished runners-up, and later helping the side place third at the FIFA U-17 World Cup. At Stuttgart, he made more than 50 appearances for the reserve team in the 3. Liga before making his Bundesliga debut as a substitute against Eintracht Frankfurt in August 2015. Seeking regular first-team football, Vlachodimos moved to Panathinaikos in 2016 and recorded 34 clean sheets in 63 appearances. His performances earned a 2018 transfer to Benfica, where he became the first-choice goalkeeper, made 225 appearances and won two Primeira Liga titles. He switched his senior international allegiance to Greece in 2018 and has represented the country at senior level since then. After spells with Nottingham Forest and Newcastle, Vlachodimos joined Sevilla on loan, while his Benfica career also included a 2022 League Cup final shootout in which he saved three penalties.
