Obinna Nwobodo

Obinna Nwobodo is a Nigerian midfielder born in Enugu on 29 November 1996. He developed with FC Inter Enugu before joining Enugu Rangers after impressing in a 2015 pre-season friendly. At Rangers, Nwobodo helped the club win the 2016 Nigerian league title, ending a long wait for the championship, and was recognised as the club’s Player of the Year. He moved to Hungary with Újpest in 2017, spending three seasons there before continuing his career with Göztepe in Turkey in 2020. Nwobodo joined FC Cincinnati in Major League Soccer in 2022, where his ball-winning and defensive coverage have made him an important central presence. He also represented Nigeria at under-20 level, contributing to the team’s run at the 2015 CAF U-20 Championship, and remains part of FC Cincinnati’s squad.
