Oleksandr Karavaev

Oleksandr Karavaev is a Ukrainian defender born in Kherson on 2 June 1992. He developed in the Shakhtar Donetsk academy after joining it in 2009, but gained senior experience during a loan spell with PFC Sevastopol from 2012 to 2014. Karavaev then spent 2014–2019 with Zorya Luhansk, where he established himself as a dynamic wide player and also featured in European competition. A brief loan to Fenerbahçe in early 2017 provided experience abroad before he returned to Ukraine. In 2019, he joined Dynamo Kyiv, increasingly moving from the wing into a right-back or wing-back role while retaining the ability to support attacks with overlapping runs. With Dynamo, Karavaev won the Ukrainian Premier League in 2020/21, the Ukrainian Cup in 2019/20 and 2020/21, and Ukrainian Super Cups in 2019 and 2020, while also representing Ukraine at UEFA EURO 2020.
