Nuno Albertino Varela Tavares

Nuno Tavares is a Portuguese left-back born in Lisbon on 26 January 2000. He developed in the capital at Casa Pia and Sporting CP before joining Benfica’s academy in 2015, where he progressed to senior football with the reserves in 2018. Tavares made his Benfica first-team debut in 2019 and helped the club defeat Sporting CP 5–0 in the Supertaça Cândido de Oliveira. In 2021, Arsenal signed him, giving the energetic defender experience in the Premier League. He moved to Marseille on loan for the 2022–23 season, operating in a wing-back-oriented system and scoring six Ligue 1 goals in 31 appearances. A subsequent loan at Nottingham Forest followed in 2023–24 before Lazio brought him to Italy in 2024. At Lazio, Nuno Tavares has been used as an attacking outlet on the left, combining progressive carries and crossing with the recovery speed required to support his defensive work.
