Nuno Alexandre Tavares Mendes

Nuno Mendes is a Portuguese defender born in Sintra on 19 June 2002. He developed at Despertar before joining Sporting CP’s academy, where he initially played as an attacking midfielder and was later converted to left-back. Mendes progressed into Sporting’s senior side during the 2019–20 season, making his professional debut in June 2020. Under Rúben Amorim, he operated as a dynamic wing-back and helped Sporting win the Primeira Liga in 2020–21. Paris Saint-Germain brought him to France on loan in August 2021 before making the move permanent in 2022. At PSG, Mendes has continued to provide pace and width from the left while contributing to build-up play and recovery defending. In 2024–25, he was part of the PSG squad that won a continental treble including the club’s first UEFA Champions League title. He also represents Portugal, making his senior debut in 2021 and featuring in subsequent international campaigns.
