Nicolás González Iglesias

Nico González is a Spanish central midfielder whose game combines Barcelona schooling with the physical presence of a 1.89-metre frame. Born in A Coruña, he began playing with Montañeros before joining Barcelona’s La Masia in 2013. He progressed through Barcelona’s youth system, debuted for the club’s reserves at 17 and made his La Liga debut in August 2021, replacing Sergio Busquets. Barcelona sent González on loan to Valencia for the 2022–23 season before he moved to FC Porto in 2023. In Portugal, he developed from a young prospect into a more influential midfield player, winning the Portuguese Cup and being named Primeira Liga Midfielder of the Month in December 2024. Manchester City signed González in February 2025, adding him to a midfield capable of operating as a pivot or a box-to-box presence. He remains linked with City while retaining the technical and positional foundations developed in Spain.
