Nick Viergever

Nick Viergever is a Dutch centre-back born in Capelle aan den IJssel on 3 August 1989. He developed at CVV Zwervers and Sparta Rotterdam, making his professional debut for Sparta in 2009. In 2010, Viergever moved to AZ Alkmaar, where he became vice-captain and helped the club win the KNVB Cup in 2013. His ability to operate at centre-back or left-back added flexibility during his four seasons in Alkmaar. He joined Ajax in 2014 and scored in extra time against Schalke 04 in the 2017 Europa League quarter-final, helping Ajax reach the semi-finals. In 2018, Viergever moved to PSV Eindhoven on a free transfer and later won the Johan Cruyff Shield in 2021. After a season with SpVgg Greuther Fürth, he returned to the Netherlands with Utrecht, continuing a long Eredivisie career built on positioning, composure and defensive experience.
