Niklas Brøndsted Vesterlund Nielsen

Niklas Brøndsted Vesterlund Nielsen is a Danish defender who developed in Copenhagen. He began at Vanløse before joining the FC Copenhagen academy, where he made six UEFA Youth League appearances during the 2016/17 season. He also represented Denmark at youth levels from under-17 to under-20. In February 2019, Vesterlund moved to Trelleborgs FF, where he established himself in senior football with 49 league appearances. He joined Tromsø IL in May 2021, beginning a productive Norwegian spell. In 2023, he recorded five goals and five assists in 30 matches for Tromsø. His performances earned him a move to FC Utrecht in early 2024. At Utrecht, Niklas Vesterlund has been used on the right side, combining defensive duties with wing-back or right-midfield responsibilities.
