Nikola Vasilj

Nikola Vasilj is a Bosnia and Herzegovina goalkeeper born in Mostar on 2 December 1995. He developed at Zrinjski and made his professional debut for the club in April 2013, aged 17. Loan spells with Igman Konjic and Branitelj gave him additional senior experience before he moved abroad. In 2019, Vasilj joined Ukrainian side Zorya Luhansk, where he continued his progression as a first-team goalkeeper. He signed for FC St. Pauli in July 2021 and became an important figure during the club’s 2023/24 campaign, when St. Pauli conceded a league-low 36 goals, won the 2. Bundesliga title and secured promotion. At 1.93 metres, Vasilj combines close-range reflexes with a commanding presence on crosses and reliable distribution from the back. He represented Bosnia and Herzegovina at under-21 level before making his senior debut in March 2021, adding international experience to a career built through gradual advancement.
