Nico Cedric Schlotterbeck

Nico Cedric Schlotterbeck is a German defender born in Waiblingen on December 1, 1999. He developed at Stuttgarter Kickers and VfR Aalen before joining Karlsruher SC in 2015, where he moved into central defence. In 2017, Schlotterbeck followed his brother Keven to SC Freiburg, winning the U19 DFB Cup in 2018 and making his Bundesliga debut in March 2019. A 2020/21 loan to Union Berlin gave him regular top-flight experience and helped the club qualify for Europe. Returning to Freiburg in 2021/22, he established himself as a forceful, left-footed centre-back before moving to Borussia Dortmund in May 2022. At Dortmund, Schlotterbeck contributes progressive passing, steps out to intercept and competes strongly in the air. He also helped Germany win the 2021 Under-21 European Championship and reached the 2024 Champions League final with Dortmund.
