Fernando Nicolás Romero

Fernando Nicolás Romero is an Argentine defender born on 28 November 2003. He began his senior career with Atlético Tucumán, making his professional debut on 5 February 2021 as a late substitute in a 1–0 away win over Independiente. Opportunities were limited in 2022, when he made one senior appearance, against Estudiantes de La Plata. Romero established himself more firmly in 2023, playing 36 matches across all competitions and scoring his first two professional goals. On 30 January 2025, he moved to Minnesota United FC under Major League Soccer’s U22 Initiative. In his first Minnesota season, he made 35 appearances, including 31 starts, and contributed five league assists. Romero was also ranked 19th in the 2025 MLS 22 Under 22 list, marking recognition of his rapid adaptation to the league.
