Nicolás Hernán Gonzalo Otamendi

Nicolás Hernán Gonzalo Otamendi is an Argentine centre-back born in Buenos Aires on February 12, 1988. He developed at Vélez Sarsfield, breaking into the first team during the 2008–09 Clausura campaign and helping the club win the league title. After making his Argentina debut in 2009, Otamendi moved to FC Porto in 2010 and collected three Primeira Liga titles and the 2011 UEFA Europa League. A spell with Atlético Mineiro preceded his 2014 move to Valencia, where he became a prominent La Liga defender. Manchester City signed Otamendi in 2015, and he won two Premier League titles, four League Cups and an FA Cup while improving his contribution in possession. He joined Benfica in 2020 in a deal involving Rúben Dias and later helped the Portuguese club win the league in 2023. With Argentina, Otamendi won the 2021 Copa América, the 2022 World Cup and the 2024 Copa América.
