Neil Micallef

Neil Micallef is a Maltese midfielder who developed at Birkirkara, joining the club’s academy at the age of four. He made his senior debut for Birkirkara in the Malta FA Trophy in December 2017, beginning a career that has included both central and defensive midfield duties. From 2018 to 2020, Micallef spent time with Santa Lucia, helping the club secure historic promotion to Malta’s Premier Division. He then moved on loan to Lija Athletic for the 2020–21 season before joining Floriana for 2021–22. Micallef returned permanently to Birkirkara in July 2022 and remains part of the club’s squad. His development has also brought European experience with Birkirkara, including Conference League qualifying appearances. After representing Malta at under-19 level, Micallef made his senior international debut against Liechtenstein on 14 November 2024.
