Nick Hagglund

Nick Hagglund is an American defender from Cincinnati who developed locally before becoming a professional center-back. At Lakota West High School, he was an All-State midfielder and the school's Offensive Player of the Year and MVP as a senior. He stayed home at Xavier University, making 81 appearances and helping the Musketeers record 31 shutouts. Hagglund won Big East Defensive Player of the Year in 2013 and became Xavier's highest-drafted player when Toronto FC selected him 10th overall in the 2014 MLS SuperDraft. He made his Toronto debut against the Columbus Crew on April 5, 2014, and scored a headed goal that leveled the aggregate score in the 2016 Eastern Conference Final. In 2017, he helped Toronto win the MLS Cup, Supporters' Shield and Canadian Championship. Traded to hometown FC Cincinnati in January 2019, Hagglund has supplied aerial defending, clearances and experience to the club's back line.
