Nico Elvedi

Nico Elvedi is a Swiss centre-back who has built his senior career in Switzerland and Germany. Born in Zürich on 30 September 1996, he developed in the FC Zürich academy before making his first-team debut against FC Lausanne-Sport in May 2014, completing the full match in a 1–0 victory. He joined Borussia Mönchengladbach in summer 2015, initially operating at right-back before establishing himself in central defence. At Gladbach, Elvedi combined positional discipline with a calm passing presence and became a regular across domestic and European campaigns. He scored his first Bundesliga goal in the 2017 Rheinderby against 1. FC Köln, securing a 1–0 win. Internationally, Elvedi made his Switzerland debut in 2016, later joining squads for the 2018 and 2022 World Cups and Euro 2020. His development from academy defender to established international centre-back has made him a long-standing figure for both club and country.
