Nathan William Byrne

Nathan William Byrne is an English defender, born in St Albans, who operates primarily at right-back and can also play as a wing-back. He developed with St Albans City before joining the Tottenham Hotspur academy and signing professional terms in 2010. From 2011 to 2013, Byrne gained senior experience on loan with Brentford, Bournemouth, Crawley Town and Swindon Town, scoring his first professional league goal for Crawley. He joined Swindon permanently in 2013 and earned selection in the 2014–15 PFA League One Team of the Year after helping the club reach the play-offs. Byrne moved to Wolverhampton Wanderers in 2015 before joining Wigan Athletic, where he won both major player-of-the-season awards during the 2017–18 League One title campaign. After joining Derby County in 2020, he was named the club’s Players’ Player of the Year for 2021–22. Byrne moved to Charlotte in 2022, continuing his career in MLS.
