Abemly Meto Silu

Metinho, the commonly used name of Brazilian midfielder Abemly Meto Silu, was born in Matadi, Congo, on 23 April 2003. He moved to Brazil as a child and began developing at Madureira before joining Fluminense’s Xerém academy in 2015. At Fluminense, Metinho progressed through the youth system and gained recognition as a technically accomplished central midfielder. In 2020, he was selected for The Guardian’s Next Generation list, marking him as one of the sport’s notable young prospects. Troyes signed him in July 2021, beginning his European career within the City Football Group network. He later built professional experience on loan at Lommel SK and Sparta Rotterdam before joining FC Basel 1893, initially on loan and subsequently as a permanent player in 2025. At Basel, Metinho operates centrally, helping circulate possession, protect the defence and connect midfield phases.
