Matheus Pereira de Souza

Matheus Pereira is a Brazilian defender who operates primarily as a left-back. Born in São Paulo on 21 December 2000, Matheus Pereira developed in Cruzeiro’s youth system before making his senior debut for the club in 2020. He spent the early part of his professional career with Cruzeiro and later joined Guarani on loan in Brazil’s Série B. In July 2022, he moved to Portugal to join Vizela, where he continued his development in the Primeira Liga. After Vizela’s relegation in 2024, he transferred to Santa Clara and remained in Portugal’s top flight. Toronto FC subsequently announced his arrival on a three-year contract, adding Pereira to its squad for the 2026 season. His career has taken him from Brazilian academy football through Portuguese competition to Major League Soccer, providing experience across different defensive environments.
